Blue Balloon is a friendly, happy school that is family-orientated and child-centred.

We offer a choice of eight extra-mural activities as well as a carefully worked out academic programme to suit the different age groups.  Our focus is on learning through fun and play.  Blue Balloon has three classes, catering for children from the age of two to six, and we also offer Grade R. We alternate annually between two different approaches to our academic programme so that children who stay with us for longer than a year benefit from a different approach to the lessons.

Assessments are done bi-annually, and we meet with our parents as often as the teacher or parents feel is necessary to ensure that the children are developing to their full potential.

The staff are either qualified or in the process of studying part-time and all are qualified First Aiders.

We offer cooked meals and snacks, and our services include Aftercare, Holiday care, casual care and full day care – entirely dependant on your needs.  Blue Balloon children are welcomed to their school with special hats, facecloths and tee shirts, and additional tee-shirts and tracksuits are also available to purchase.

The security at BB, as it is affectionately known, is unbeatable.  CCTV cameras capture all the indoor activities, and this is reviewed periodically to ensure good classroom practices.  The boundary walls have recently been upgraded and electric fencing installed, as well as a double gate system being put in place.  Entry into the school is recorded and monitored from the office, and all staff wear emergency buzzers and remote controls for the gate.  Entrance onto our school premises is not guaranteed! Security gates and burglar proofing complete the picture.

BB is a member of the current Cape Peninsula Association of Childminders, and has been graded and found to be an above-average facility, which complies with more than the expected minimum standards.

Blue Balloons’ owner is a passionate, hands-on principal who oversees every detail of the school day.  She is a mom of four and is an ex-foundation phase teacher with 17 years actual teaching experience.  Blue Balloon is a routined but flexible school, but is most importantly a home away from home.  We believe that our service is unmatched and we keep our eye on the most important feature of our business:  the child itself!
